The Full Story
Hi, I’m Big George, the founder of Pointy Ear Training. My journey into dog training began in 2017 with my own dog, Azula. When I rescued her at just two years old, she was highly reactive to both dogs and people.
Like many dog owners, I struggled with Azula’s behavioral issues and had no idea how to address them. I started reading books and learning about the psychology behind these challenges. I even hired a trainer but saw little to no improvement.
That same year, everything changed when I met Jesse, better known as “Your Dog’s Favorite Uncle.” Under Jesse’s guidance, my struggles with Azula were resolved almost overnight. No more treat pouch, no more repeated commands, and no signs of reactivity. I was hooked.

Inspired by this transformation, I asked Jesse to take me on as an apprentice. For nearly three years, I trained under his mentorship, working side by side at the Animal Welfare League shelter in Port Charlotte. Together, we handled and helped rehome
"red case" dogs—those with aggression or bite histories—and assisted private clients with a wide range of issues. Jesse taught me the Talking Dog Method, a counterintuitive approach that emphasizes behavior over verbal commands or obedience. This method creates clear communication with dogs by working with their natural instincts and patterns.
After completing my apprenticeship, I launched Pointy Ear Training to help other dog owners achieve the same results I did with Azula, who now serves as my demo dog for training sessions.​

Our mission at Pointy Ear Training is simple: to help dog owners build clear, effective communication with their pets using the Talking Dog Method. By focusing on behavior rather than words, we teach dogs in a way that feels natural to them, unlocking their potential without the need for constant commands or treats.
With hands-on experience working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments—from high-energy pups to reactive dogs—I tailor my training to fit real-world scenarios. This ensures the training sticks, no matter the environment.
